How it came to be
To take care and look after the properties of Synod, a proposal was made by the Synod Executive Committee to form a Property Committee in 1996 and it was the responsibility of the SEC to look after this Committee. The proposal by the SEC was accepted by the Synod in 1997 and the Committee was revised from time to time as the mission grew in size.
As the property of Synod began to grow in number, the job of the committee became harder to manage and in 2014, the Committee was promoted to a full fledge Committee by Synod itself. As for the member itself, capable individuals were appointed as the members since it was easier to function around the city itself rather.
Name and Position
Since the committee took care of all existing property of the Synod in and outside of Mizoram under its care, the name was called “Synod Trust Committee”
The Committee members include the Moderator as the chairman, The Executive Secretary as the Secretary. Its member includes – the Synod Secretary (Sr) =, the Synod Secretary (Jr), the Executive Education Board, and the Head of the Department of – SMB, Hospital, PRESCOM, Theological Education Board, Synod Education Board, those directly appointed by Synod and the Assistant Engineer.
Authority of the Synod Trust Committee
1. To take care and maintain the properties owned by Synod.
2. To implement rules regarding the usage of properties owned by Synod.
3. To receive any report of complications in the functions of two department.
4. When it comes to using or dealing with the Government regarding properties, the committee should be the one to deal with the Government.
5. To be protect and safeguard papers that contain land and housing documents.
How it functions
1. Any house or land owned by Synod, which are to be sold, rent or given are to be carefully considered and then submit the matter to the SEC.
2. Any department that wants to construct or bring down a property should first submit their request to the Synod Trust Committee and after given their permission, they will also provide the planning and estimate for the whole work. If the project requires huge sum of money, they will have to request permission from the SEC as well.
They would make sure that the plans for the construction are followed properly. A new budget would be made every year and it would be submitted to the Synod Finance Committee. Every Department would care for their own property as representative of the Synod Trust Committee. A full written report regarding the management of property would be submitted by each Department to the Synod Trust Committee. And the Synod Officers Meeting would take care of those Department that lack any proper staff to maintain their property.
