I. Introduction
The Synod Music Committee was formed in 1930. The “Kristian Hla Bu’ already existed before the foundation of the Synod Music Committee, and it was given the task to revise the already existing song book. The task of creating the Mizo Kristian Hla Thar bu and its revision and the “Nopang Hla Bu was also given to the Music Committee.
The Synod Music Committee would organise events such as Conductor training for Choir, Mizo lengkhawm Zai Seminar, Song leader training, Solfa lessons and any musical activities that would help in the development of the Church.
In 2014, Synod approved the Synod Worship Committee to become a full fledge Committee (Synod 2014, Gen. 52; Synod 2015, Gen. 52; SEC 262:21; SEC 263:47, App. 3) The Worship Committee is expected to take care of the overall improvement of the Church and the Music Committee as well. Although the two committee have different names, they have common goals and thus became one committee named the Synod Worship Committee but in order to create and recruit new committee members, orders were given by Synod that they are to use the Music Committee rules regarding the matter.
II. Worship Department
The Synod Worship Committee used the Worship Cell and the Music Cell as a means improve its mission work. The two cell would then request the Worship Executive Committee to for any programme they want to have like: -
1. The Worship Cell would continue the service programmes at the Church and they would than appoint the time, place and participants for the next programme.
2. The music programmes would also be organised by the Music Cell and they would also appoint the time and place of the next programme as well.
3. The Worship Executive Committee would sometimes join the Music and Worship Cell together and they would be given the same responsibility.
4. In order to fulfil any objectives given by the Worship Committee, the Worship and Music Cell would try and organised themselves and each Cell is expected to report any invitation or request given to them by the Church to the Worship Executive Committee.
5. The Synod Worship Committee is given authority over the song book which are to be sold and used in the Church.
6. Depending on the situation, The Synod Worship Committee would organised Music Festival for the Church as well.
7. Lastly, if there is any problem regarding the songs sung in the church, the church elder is expected to carefully consider the matter with the Cells.
III. Synod Music School
In the Synod Office Annexe Building, the Synod Worship Committee gives classes on Keyboard, Violin and Vocal training. The duration of the class would be six months and admission notice would be declared in the Church.

IV. Training and Seminar
Training on Solfa, Choir and Song Conductor would be given to the church who send their request to the Synod Worship Committee.
Different worship seminars like – Church Leading Programmes, Preparing for Sermon, The study of Presbyterianism etc are provided to those who send their request to the Committee.
V. Other Important Functions
Training for the Conductor of a Choir is held every year in the months of June – August. Seminar for traditional ‘Mizo Lengkhawng Zai” is also conducted and depending on the time and financial situation, the seminar would be conducted on regular basis.
